The Bible contains many prophecies that are often interwoven throughout the historical prophecies that were announced to the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah. Some of the prophecies pertained to the First Advent while others discussed the Latter Days, Tribulation, Second Advent, or Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.

An example of this can be found in chapter nine of Isaiah. One verse begins with the birth of Christ and then goes straight into His Millennial Kingdom when He will rule on the Earth, and continues discussing His reign through the next verse:

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." - Isaiah 9:6-7

The surrounding verses, along with chapters eight and ten, are dealing with the soon-coming Assyrian captivity that the Northern Kingdom of Israel would experience.

In the book of Nahum, the city of Nineveh was under Assyrian occupation and was about to be conquered by King Nebuchadnezzer of Babylon. As with Isaiah chapter nine, there is a future prophecy that is woven into the prophecy of Nineveh's fall to Babylon in chapter two.

"The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings." - Nahum 2:4

Chariots consisted of different materials and numbers of horses depending on the specific use, but it is estimated that the average speed of chariots was around 30-40 mph. Even in ancient days, that would not have been considered as fast as lightening.

Notice that the prophet also stated that "they shall seem like torches" implying that they would be bright as they traveled.

Just as Ezekiel spoke of nuclear weaponry and Zechariah spoke of ballistic missiles, could it be that the Lord revealed cars to Nahum?
